Victoria Falls

Zimbabwe boasts several majour tourist attractions. The Victoria Falls on the Zambezi (shared with Zambia) are in the north west. The Victoria Falls National Park is also in this area and is one of eight main national parks, the largest being Hwange National Park. There are a number of ancient ruined cities built in a unique dry stone style, the most famous being the Great Zimbabwe ruins in Masvingo.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country which shares a 200km (125 mi) border on the south with South Africa and is bounded on the south-west and west by Botswana, on the north by Zambia, and on the north-east and east by Mozambique. The capital is Harare (formerly Salisbury). Zimbabwe achieved independence in April 1980.
